I truly believe suboxone is a miracle medication. It provide stability and returns opiate slaves to regular life. So why are so few doctors prescribing it? And why are some ripping off patients when they do prescribe it? The general public would be up in arms if cancer patients or diabetics were being ripped off for their meds, but addicts, as always are given no sympathy. The first sub doctor I went to was the only one at the time (2004) that could prescribe in my city (all others were at the VA hospital) I tried to kick cold turkey a couple times, but got to about twenty hours, and I just couldn't stand it (No one tells you that time slows down when you're kicking; five minutes feels like an hour or more...) The first doc charged $750 CASH ONLY to start, and treated the drug like he was giving me plutonium! I'd have to run down for a 2 mg., and stick it under my tongue and wait for it to do something. (Of course, he wanted me in full withdrawal, being the sadist he was, and 2 wouldn't even touch my misery. After shooting dilaudid for six months, was giving me a couple pills SO dangerous?!) After that, he insisted that I keep coming back every two weeks at another $75 CASH per visit, while he tried to get me cross addicted to seroquel (which adds serious weight by making food taste FANTASTIC, but also makes you dependent on it to sleep), and by requiring me to take urine tests at $250/pop! For the first few months, I could have stayed high for less money than it took to get on sub! There should be laws against that kind of abuse. I know crack dealers who have more compassion than this doctor. Anyone else have a similar experience?
