   Pmdd (Women's Health board)

8th February 2005
Americandancer, I also have pmdd and had the same experience you had with a male Dr. - he prescribed ativan and gave me samples of seroquel (i think an antipsychotic) and told me I might be bi-polar!!! Do these guys read the same medical bulletins every month or what? Anyway I threw away the seroquel and tried the ativan but it just made it worse. I found a clincal nurse (woman) who could prescribe meds and it was a completely different experience - she knew about pmdd, she was very kind/understanding. She prescribed zoloft, it has taken 4+ months for it to work (150 mg) but I am a new person (my husband is verrrry happy). Is there a woman Dr. you could go to who might be more understanding?
