what is this drug?? (Asthma board)

2nd March 2005
Hi

I'm on qvar, serevent and salbutamol, I find that these medicines work well for me..

but my new asthma nurse wants to experiment with my medicine, to see if I can take less (which I don't mind)

BUT is also planning on switching me to a different medicine which supposedly combines the qvar and serevent. Does anyone know what this is, and if it's new? She didn't mention a name and I didn't think to ask :(

I'm worried it's new and I'm being tested on?

It's probably Advair, a combination of serevent (long acting albuterol) and flovent, an inhaled corticosteroid (which I think is what qvar is). Separately both drugs have been on the market 8-10 years (at least) and I think Advair came out about 6 years ago. Advair is very effective and tolerated well by most people.
