29th March 2004
I have been posting to this site for several months. I have had 2 virus starting in Nov. Another in Feb. I have been declining in health very rapidly and not getting very far with my doctor(s). Back in Feb. i was experiencing heaviness in my chest and severe short of breathe. I have been a severe asthmatic for over 30yrs. To make a long story short. I was put on a 6th antibotics last thurs. This weekend was a struggle with breathing. Seems that anything i try to do by treating it with meds for asthma. No relief. I get episodes of my lungs going into spasms and tightning up. My peak flows have been good. The episode last anywhere from 10min-throughout the day. I have been on or currently on up to 120 mg prednisone, flovent, advair 500/50, zithromax twice, septra, amoxicillin 3xs, now currently on Doxcylcline, albuterol, neubilizer.
The current doctor felt that this has gone on to long enough. I needed a specialist to look at maybe a deep infection that sometimes they need to go in and do a wash. I was pleased to take this step, because everything i was doing failed. That was 2 weeks ago that i was referred. After about 5 days i called to see what the status was on the referrel and found that i was declined to see the pulmonary doctor. I was in shock. How much can person endure and continue to not get any relief. After many ER visits, several appt w/ my asthma doc and phone consults. I was a square one until today. My husband was furious with the care and decided to take action. This morning we went into member services and spoke my case to the case manager. She was floored that after all i have been through and a doctor there ask for a referrel and was shut down. She immediately sprung into action and we wrote up a grievance and stated due to my referrel getting denied that we would label it Neglect of Service. So doing so would result in a decision in 72hours and i would have the choice to possible go outside to another specialist. Hopefully this will finally be the end.
Thanks you for being my rock. My husband told me yesterday that a closed mouth never gets fed. So thats why i decided to take action and im so glad i did. If it was my kids or any of my love ones i would of had this already resolved in some form. Because its me i am kind of shy and i don't want to burden anyone. Its different now because im tired my family is tired of me being like this.
