Is the dry mouth from Adderall ever temporary? (ADD - Attention Deficit Disorder board)

15th March 2008
I have been taking this for ADD for just under a week now, and have found it to be working better for me than either Ritalin or Concerta were. The ONLY unpleasant side effect I am having is the dry mouth, but it is extreme. So bad my tongue is sore and swollen and I find myself constantly biting it and chewing on it. I am drinking tons of water, but it hasn't diminished it one bit. I did have similar reaction when i first started Concerta, and that went away after a few weeks, but it wasn't as sever as this. I have looked everywhere and can't discern if this particular side effect is ever expereinced only in the first few weeks of taking Adderall, or if it is "if you have it, you have it..." I would like to stay on it, but if this continues I don't know that I can stand it!
