upper respiratory allergies - question (Allergies board)

14th September 2006
My 5yr. old was just diagnosed w/ upper respiratory allergies....both myself and my 7yr. old daughter suffer from allergies as well.....my daughter's dr. is out of the office this week....possibly next week as well due to a family emergency......does anyone know....are stomach aches (cramping) a possible symptom of allergies? My daughter has been complaining of this lately....last month of so.....I know...this could be anything....but I want to know if it's also common w/ allergies too...w/ all the symptoms that can go along....I mean I think to how I've been suffering w/ my own....on the days where I forget to take my meds....I can feel so bad I can feel like I'm coming down w/ a major cold or even the flu...and then w/in a couple hours of taking my med (rhinocort aqua)....I feel GREAT again.....so I wonder if it's possible that her stomach cramps can be a symptom of her allergies just like in myself I deal w/ symptoms that leave me feeling like I'm getting a major cold or flu. Again....I know one has to be careful because stomach aches can be a symptom of many things....but if one were to say...no....stomach aches could NEVER be a symptom of allergies....well I know I would not to mess around waiting for her dr. to come back .....I would immediatly call and schedule an appt. w/ her pediatrician. We have one dr. ....a pediatrician for certain types of visits....and then we have another dr....a specialist...for her allergies. He will hopefully be in the office next Monday. If not....and it sounds like he'll be out all next week...then yes...I will consider checking w/ our ped. for his thoughts......in the meantime.....any ideas on this one from people dealing w/ allergies?

My thoughts thus far is that this is a symptom and she may simply need a stronger med...right now she's on about the weakest thing possible just to start...dr. wanted to start out low nad work up as need be...............
