Do allergies get worse with age? (Allergies board)

30th May 2006
I'm in the same boat as you Smyrnaboy...

...I'll be 34 in August w/a lifetime of allergies that only get worse. Also includes a very large list of food allergies that I must contend with day in and day out. Been on shots three times to no avail. They work for a short period, (maybe a year), then the bottom drops out and I get worse. This time I made 2 years with shots till I had to stop them completely. Apparently too much for me to handle, so now I get by with a Zyrtec/Tagament combo (Tagament's for my Dermatographic skin/hives), Rhinocort, Patanol, Albuterol when I can't breathe, and a strict diet that literally changes with the allergy season. I also carry an Epi-Pen since I'm basically a walking anaphylactic timebomb.

Yeah, I'll second the notion that allergies get worse with age!!
