Right now, I am getting microdermabrasion treatments along with AHA peels at a plastic surgeon's office. So far so good. My largest scar (which wasn't "that" noticeable, but it was indented) is no longer indented and is now just a red mark. I still have three or four more treatments to go though.
Along with the micro and peels, I am using Renova and Neostrata 10% AHA gel that were both prescribed to me by the same doctor who is doing my other two procedures. At first, these two products made my skin a MESS (peely, red, some breakouts) but now my skin is smooth and red marks are drastically reduced.
If you want to go a much less expensive route, try Neutrogena Healthy Skin Lotion. It's really great at reducing red marks, but it doesn't make them go away entirely.
