Ph Bravo Test (Acid Reflux board)

12th December 2007
I completely understand as I've been where you are and even after all these years "still" wonder sometimes what the heck is wrong with me. I know my husband has to be sick of me coughing my head off, clearing my throat, being sick at my stomach, crazy in the head with panic attacks. Have they given you any motility meds such as reglan to help with swallowing. I had bad problems swallowing in the beginning and lost a ton of wt. I do sometimes now during bad spells or even worse is that I'll feel like food is going up my nose. I didn't think I ever had heart burn but do remember drinking alka seltzer a lot and when I had first scope Gastro said my stomach looked like it had been trashed for quite awhile. I guess I've been lucky as to not have had the shooting pains very often or the fast heart beating. I do get the feeling an elephant is sitting on my chest and recently felt like I was going to have a heart attack. I have to take Xanax to get over the anxiety I feel when I get like this. Same here in seeing every spec out there, being sent from Dr. to Dr., wanting to slap anyone that says, "I take the purple pill." And Dr's saying it's only GERD or LPR.

Hi again

You have been through the mill - don't understand why "they" don't have a handle on how to treat us suffers. I have another question Charla, how did you feel on the reglan? I filled the script, read the side effects and said forget it. I did not need any more anxious, sleepless or depressions added it this equation, did it help you, I was so afraid to take it. I have so many pills, liquids, etc. one dr. (ent.) puts me on his stuff and tells me to not take the gasto meds, the pulmonologist tells me not to take the ENT meds, so I'm on and off the meds every week, we actually got a laugh we put out all the meds and scripts i've gotten over the weeks, what a joke ---and I paid for them all, which is a sad joke. I hope I have some answers after this test tomorrow --I know it's better then the old PH test, I feel weird a foreign object will be inside of me --it just better fall out when it supposed too. They scheduled me to come in at 1:45 in the afternoon, it will be a long day of no at least a sip of water, not eating anyway, but i will be lightheaded --my kids just came down to remind me the holiday concert is at school tomorrow!!!! can't win!!

have a good nite, get back on the reglan if you can.
thanks

I took the Reglan in the beginning only at night. By this time I was so sick to begin with I didn't think it could get much worse. My stomach issues did seem to get better but when they tried to put me on Reglan 4 times a day.....I was like a zombie. Even cutting in half and I had bad side effects. Some people take it just fine and I'll admit after awhile it wasn't quite so bad but the zombie feeling never left. I read the side effects of long term use and that scared me. I also took Propulsid and did very well on it but wouldn't you know they took it off the market. It didn't give me any side effects at all and seemed to keep everything down. They give babies Reglan all the time for reflux and it seems to be a miracle drug for them.

I do think it's such a joke for Dr's to hook you up to all these things with tubes up your nose, taped to your face telling you to go about your normal activity. My boss said I better not show up those 2 days! LOL.
