   LPR Thoughts (Acid Reflux board)

23rd February 2008
Do those of you with LPR have a raw, scarred/blistered throat? It seems that most people I see talking about LPR will say they have voice problems or trouble swallowing, but I rarely see people mention the kin dof red, blistered throat that I have experienced these last few years. The past two days the pain in my throat has been almost unbearable. I too worry about the long term effects and of throat/larynx cancer.

Raising my bed, and taking a lot of ranitidine (Zantac) does not help. Nexium, Prevacid, and Protonix also did not help and give me stomach pain all day long (I can't stand to take them). Diet seemed to help a little, but not a lot. I have no idea what to do next. I went to doctors regularly for a year and a half, had lots of tests done, went to a gastroenterologist, etc, and they continued to claim I did not have acid reflux, when I know that I do (and medical studies that I have read also say that there are often false negatives when it comes to LPR). When my symptoms first appeared, i went to an ENT who gave me allergy medicines. I haven't been back to an ENT and wonder if i should bother - seems most don't even know about LPR.
