I have lost 30 lbs. since last May. This is bad for me because I
can't really afford to lose that much. I am 6 foot tall and currently
weight 135 lbs. -- I look like a skeleton and I'm still losing weight.
Basically, I can't eat high calorie fatty foods and I can only eat very
tiny meals or else I get severe reflux. Omeprazole and Ranitidine are
not working for me. I'm trying very hard to keep my weight up until my
appointment with a new gastroenterologist in a month. Trying to keep my
weight up is now the main focus of my day. I plan my life around this now.
According to some calorie calculators you can find on the web I need to be consuming more than 1900 calories/day in order to
maintain my current weight. On a good day I can manage to eat only
about 1800 :(
On a related topic, does anyone have ideas to share about
high calorie GERD-safe foods? The best I've found has been rice.
It seems, for me at least, that rice digests very well requiring
very little stomach acid and it has a lot of calories. I get these
little bowls of pre-cooked brown rice from Trader Joe's stores.
They're 7.4 Oz and have 340 calories (fat: 2.5g, carbs: 72g!, protein: 7g).
Mark.
