palpatations, sweating & sic feeling? (Acid Reflux board)

16th January 2008
Just thought I would let you all know that went to the doctors & she maintains that the ole reflux is the culprit to my problem & is trying me on prevacid, because it is one I have never been on. Although she went in to detail to explain that the nexium, protonix & so forth are pretty much the same. Also she stated that some people can't take them they are just to strong, I believe that was my case. I will tell you she said she takes the old fashion Zantac & that is what works best for her. So she gave me a script for Ranitidine which must be the same as Zantac & said if the previcid does not work in a few days to take that & has to be taken faithfully, morning & night. All these meds take a few days to work & the Zantac takes alittle longer.
She explained that very often this occurs when after going to bed because everything relaxs & the acid kind of goes bonkers. Now here is an interesting comment the doc. made. If this is still a problem after my shoulder surgery she will give my something to relax before bedtime because stress of anxiety can kick all this up at night when you try to sleep, also said that people have come in with breathing problems which gerd was the culprit. I am not sure if this will help anyone out but I hope so. I am willing to give it all a shot. Beats all that scary stuff. By the way my insurance would not cover the Ranitdine, probably because of the zantac being over the counter, but it only cost $4.00 for 60. Much cheaper then buying the Zantac OTC. I hope this works & will try to let you all know. Sammy

I gave the prevacid only 3 days, but the discomfort was just getting worse so I cant see staying on it longer, I am trying to figure out if Ranitidine is like the zantac, the doctor said she was going to have me take the Zantac if the prevacid did not work but gave me the script for the Ranitidine. The way I feel at this time is I have enough pain do the the shoulder I can't take the added discomfort from trying all these meds, so I will give them a shot & if I feel it is just getting worse I will not take them, I swear some of these meds can with out a doudt cause more pain. Good luck, my family is the same, shame isn't it, the whole family suffers. I wonder if the doctors consider this. Sammy

[FONT="Comic Sans MS"][SIZE="3"]Ranitidine is generic Zantac, not too horribly costly if you do the generic.
Hope today is a better day!
Good luck with your surgery, God Bless!
