Just thought I would let you all know that went to the doctors & she maintains that the ole reflux is the culprit to my problem & is trying me on prevacid, because it is one I have never been on. Although she went in to detail to explain that the nexium, protonix & so forth are pretty much the same. Also she stated that some people can't take them they are just to strong, I believe that was my case. I will tell you she said she takes the old fashion Zantac & that is what works best for her. So she gave me a script for Ranitidine which must be the same as Zantac & said if the previcid does not work in a few days to take that & has to be taken faithfully, morning & night. All these meds take a few days to work & the Zantac takes alittle longer.
She explained that very often this occurs when after going to bed because everything relaxs & the acid kind of goes bonkers. Now here is an interesting comment the doc. made. If this is still a problem after my shoulder surgery she will give my something to relax before bedtime because stress of anxiety can kick all this up at night when you try to sleep, also said that people have come in with breathing problems which gerd was the culprit. I am not sure if this will help anyone out but I hope so. I am willing to give it all a shot. Beats all that scary stuff. By the way my insurance would not cover the Ranitdine, probably because of the zantac being over the counter, but it only cost $4.00 for 60. Much cheaper then buying the Zantac OTC. I hope this works & will try to let you all know. Sammy
