Hi,

I've got this pain in my stomach that usually lasts for an entire day. I was earlier prescribed ranitidine for this problem and later prescribed nexium. I wanted to know what exactly this problem is and how long will it last. I also wanted to know what diet is usually advisable for it.

It sounds to me like you may have a stomach ulcer(pain in stomach and prescribed nexium). Nevertheless a person with a stomach ulcer needs to stay away from the same trigger foods as a person with GERD. I was told to stay away from chocolate, citrus fruits(oranges and lemons) or juices, cranberry juice, coffee,cheeses,fried or greasy foods, whole milk(low fat to no fat is best), ice cream,tomato based foods(spaghetti sauces etc..), carbonated drinks, and high fat desserts. There goes all the great tasting foods!:-(
