   Ranitidine!!! (Acid Reflux board)

16th November 2006
I have taken ranitidine-same dose as you-for more than ten years. They help with the heartburn but I also have throat issues so I tried several PPIs but I stopped them because of bad side effects and went back to ranitidine. It is not as strong but I know it is helping me some. You could try it and see how you do.
Good luck with whatever you decide, It is hard to find the right answer to your problems but you should try to reduce the acid and the damage it can do. I am usually very anxious trying a new pill so I take just one half if they can be cut and if I feel ok in 20 minutes I take the other half.

Mad Maz - I've got health anxiety, too, along with reflux. I took ranitidine a while back before I started Prilosec and they did help with my reflux and I never had any adverse reactions to it. I always read the side effects of medications, too and get myself all worked up. I hate taking pills, too. Chances are, you won't have any of the side effects. Best of luck with whatever you decide. Take care!

I wouldnt worry about ranitidine... I take 300mg 4x daily... Its the only thing that I've been able to tolerate and that works.
At least it used to work. Things have gotten worse for me over the past year. I'm going in for a nissen fundo on jan 21st. I'm excited for the possibility of being med free for the first time in 10 years.

[FONT="Comic Sans MS"][SIZE="3"]Ranitidine is generic Zantac..
It is one of the only things that helps me, my doctor had me on 300mg twice a day. We have tried other drugs and I always go back to ranitidine, the side effects are way way less than any of the others...
