feeling alone with asthma (Asthma board)

13th September 2007
If you're using your inhalers all the time, your asthma may not be under full control. Have you discussed this with your doctor? Perhaps your meds could be changed. I've been on Pulmicort, but this summer was difficult for me until I added Claritin-D. Things have been great since then, so it looks like allergies are playing a part in my Asthma. Yeah, Prednisone pills really work, but taking too much of that isn't good. Have you seen a Pulmonologist?

How often are you using your inhalers? If you are using it more than four times a day, your asthma is really out of control. I am sorry, becuase I know how frustrating and depressing it is. Have you seen a pulmonary doctor? The problem with asking other people what drugs they use is that what works for one person, might not work for you. As an example, when I get a severe asthma attack which is every other month, I take 40-60 mg of Prednisone for 7 days till the attack subsides. I am also on Pulmicort twice a day, Foradil twice a day, Singulair one pill at night, Spiriva once a day, and Theophylline 300 mg twice a day. The other difference with me is that I also had lung cancer two years ago and the radiation also did some damage to my lung. My best advise is to see a pulmonary doctor.
Good luck and wish you well.
