I also took Adderral and it did nothing but give me a stomach ache. Then I tried Concerta (36 mg) and thought it was great. But I have an addiction history (painkillers) and did have some Concerta side effects like: frequent urination (some days), insomnia, panicky (only the first day) - but I loved it. It didn't really help me w/ my focus, but I had energy, my mood was much brighter, no anger outbursts, I wasn't sleepy. It was great. My doc pulled me off it b/c of the side effects and thought we should try Provigil (200mg). (used to treat narcoplesy). I started it 2 1/2 weeks ago but then I stopped for about 5 days (went away - forgot to bring it w/ me) so I'm still trying to figure out if Provigil works. It seems to as far as energy and not sleepy. I started back up on Wednesday and it's not a stimulant, I don't think it takes effect immediately like the stimulants do. I sent my doc an email on Friday pm saying I wanted to go back on the Concerta at a lower dose (18mg) but haven't heard yet b/c it's the weekend.
But now I'm not so sure I want back on Concerta - the past couple of days this Provigil seems to be working okay, esp. for the sleepiness & energy. I'll know more by the end of the week, I'll see how I do on it while I'm at work.
