Stratera thoughts (ADD - Attention Deficit Disorder board)

24th August 2004
Hello all.

I want to encourage everyone to keep posting their experiences.

I went from adderall to concerta to ritalin to strattera, which I am still on. 80mg per day. I found out that if I do not take strattera with food, I will have wicked heartburn. No sexual side effects.

I am 6'5", 185 lbs.

I am forgetfull and I procrastinate. I often forget to take my pills. Last week I almost forgot to pick up one of my kids from daycare!

My Dr. prescribed Lexapro for me after I told him that I am still thinking about things that don't matter. Like wether I remembered to turn my car alarm on (OCD) or if it bothers me that my wife forgot to buy cups at the grocery store.

Yes, I have been frustated since the beginning. I am still looking for that miracle drug.

Six months ago I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. I had my tonsils and adnoids removed. I also had a deviated septum that was fixed. That seemed to work well for a short time. But I went back to falling asleep at work.

A pulmonary doctor suggested I had narcolepsy. Which I thought was a joke. A blood test suggested that I might have it. There is a new drug "provigil" that I might try. I go back for my third sleep study tonight.

I have trouble falling asleep at night. I feel like I could stay up all night on the computer or watching TV. During the day, I could fall asleep in about one second. I tried moving my meds from morning to night and vice versa, but it didn't seem to help.

Anyway, I suggest reading up on narcolepsy and sleep apnea, as they can cuase you to have ADD like symtoms.

I went off of the strattera for a week, but I was still a zombie. I am pretty sure that I was asleep more then I was awake this past weekend.

Today I started Provigil, for narcolepsy, or should I say "Excessive Daytime Sleepiness", and I am much more awake, but still a bit sleepy.

We are going to wait and see what the provigil does before going back to the ADD meds such as Adderal XR.
