Anyone here take Propecia(finasteride)? How does it affect the body? (Exercise & Fitness board)

any replies at all?

From what I have heard some die hard weight-lifters consume a ton of Propecia to stop the extra testosterone from converting to DHT. This tells me that if there is extra testosterone in the body that isn't being converted to DHT that your results might even be better on Propecia. I think they were taking up to 10 mg's a day when the recommended dose for hairloss is 1 mg. Everyone reacts differently to drugs though so it is always best to consult your doctor.

Hope that helps...

So does it affect weight lifters/people that excercise frequesntly negatively?

Negatively how? You have to be a little more specific with these questions. Propecia may cause an increase in acne, extra body fat, and a decrease in libido. What do you want to know?

Propecia does not decrease testosterone, what it does is stops testosterone from converting to DHT, which is what causes hairloss.
