Actually, phenogren, or promthazine, is safe in pregnancy, it is classified as a C because of the class of drug it is associated with, and becasue not enough research has been done on the medicine. The thorazines i think it is. My husband and MIL are nurses, and give promthazine to pregnant women all the time, i also see a dr who specializes in maternal fetal medicines and she said it was fine also. But it is very easy to build up a tolerance to promethazine and it won't work anymore. Last year i was very sick and taking 150mg of it a day and it wasnt' helping, normal does is about 10-25mg. But anyway zofran is a better drug it does work better. But zofran contains phenylalanine which in people who have certain diseases it doesn't get processed correctly and can back up in your system and cause serious problems, but you would probably have to be takign ALOT of zofran to have that happen. Becoming serioulsy dehydrated during pregnancy, or malnutrioned, is a very serious problem. And most likely poses more of a problem than takign phenogren would cause.
