Considering Gall Bladder Surgury? (Open to All Health Related Topics board)

1st October 2007
I was 21 when I had my gallbladder removed. I had severe pain in my stomach and in my back. Every doctor would tell me I had Gastritis (if that's how you spell it). They gave me everything from Nexium to Prevacid and nothing helped. Finally I went to an Internal Medicine doctor and he sent me for an ultra sound. Turned out I had more gallstones that you can count on both my fingers and toes together. So I was immediately scheduled for laproscopic surgery. It took about two weeks for me to recover after the surgery and felt great afterwards. No more stomach pains until about a year later. At 22, I had major sharp pains on my lower right side of my stomach and I was severely bloated. The pain worsened so bad that I went to the emergency room because I couldn't walk. It turned out my appendix was about to burst. I was rushed into emergency surgery and finally I can say I haven't had any stomach problems since. So if you don't agree with the doctor telling you one thing, go get a second opinion. And never rule out the appendix when you get sharp pain in your lower right abdomin. Hope this lil bit of info helps!
