Adult Female - Strattera Side Effects (ADD - Attention Deficit Disorder board)

23rd September 2003
I am 51 yr. old female taking Strattera for three months. I am wondering if anyone has had increased symptoms of fibrocystic breast disease as a side effect. I have had lumps off and on all my adult life. Had a hysterectomy five years ago and have taken .625 Premarin since with ZERO lumps during this time. Last month I discovered a couple of small lumps and had a mammogram with the usual diagnosis of FBD. The two lumps have now grown to the largest I have ever had. They are typically sore as with FBD and not CA. Upon original notice, I stopped all caffeine and began vitamin E therapy with no positive results. I am going for a recheck with OB/GYN but hate to go to Psy and say 'yet another' med. doesn't work for me. Actual results with the med at 40 mg. have been excellent.

This is not supposed to be a central nervous system stimulant -- anyone with this problem?

Thanks for your info Christine. Had a mammogram 3 mos. ago. I had not noticed the lumps at that time and nothing was found outside of the usual diagnosis of fibrocystic beast disease. Because of the recent mammo, my GYN doctor did not feel the urgency I feel and scheduled me for a month out which is next week.

I am on 40MG because when I tried 60MG, I felt I became manic. If all proves not to be Strattera as the cause of my problems, I'm sure the PSY will encourage me to try a higher dose of Strattera again. (Odly, with the 40mg, I felt a lot less anxiety.)

BTW, since I posted, I stopped all caffeine, Premarin, and began Vitamin E therapy. The lumps have are down by about one third. Of course, I will keep the recheck with GYN.
