blood clot (Open to All Health Related Topics board)

I am so confused. I was recently diagnoised with a PE after a surgery. I was put on a blood thinner and taken off my premarin. I was then given clonidine for hot flashes (does not work) and amitriptyline 50MG to help me sleep. When I got my pills the info paper that comes with your pills says not to take clonidine and the amitriptyline together. I ask my NP snd she said it is okay. She had also said it was okay to take the premarin until I questioned her. Can someone please point me in the right direction.:dizzy: Also any suggestions to stop the hot flashes would be so greatly appreciated.

I agree with the other poster. If it was me I would want to be seen by a Dr. and not a NP, when you're dealing with clots and blood thinners.

I've been on Coumadin for almost 2 years now and I have to be very careful in what medicines I take, even OTC. It was my understanding that Premarin and Coumadin (Warfarin) were a big No No and not to be mixed together.

I have been on cumiden since 01 and in 05 I had an arrogant Dr take me off of it for two weeks for a simple cateract removal! I ask if that was safe, he looked at me in disgust and said when did you become a DR? After one week I had a massive stroke and almost died!! I am trying to learn to keep my records and look up as much as I can.
