CCB vs Beta Blockers? (High & Low Blood Pressure board)

3rd January 2005
Does anyone know if verapamil or diltiazem can lower pulse rate as well as atenolol? And will they control palpatations? I have taken both of these CCBs with atenolol. (one at a time ). Together they lowered my pulse too much. But both of the CCBs had a better effect on my BP than any other medication. I have tried to get off the atenolol several times but when I get down to 25 mg I start to have really bad palps. As for other CCBs, I have tried Norvasc and Plendil. Had a bad allergic reaction to both.
Right now I take Benicar HCT and atenolol. BP runs 140's / 70, 80.
Thans for any info.
