Boy! What great advice. When my 21 yr old sone came to me and told me he was hooked on xanax...he was crying, I was crying, his dad was crying....He was scared to death. He felt like he was dying and didn't know what to do.He needed us more at that moment than he ever has. We were there for him. He stayed stuck to my side like clue. I called our family doctor and told him what was going on. He called in a script for xanax...I nearly died!! I said why???? He said we are going to taper him off slowly. If he does this with nothing he could risk having seizures....so we did that. We halved what the doc wanted to do, cause my son had already gone 2-3 days cold turkey....and he was at his worst. he also gave him some phenergan to take for the upset stomach, which also made him sleep...which was good. I fed him healthy food and made sure he drank, as not to get dehydrated with all the loose bowels and throwing up. We made it!!!!! within 2 weeks...he was done....he felt better than he'd felt in ages. So, there's my story and I know you can do it too. Your parents and family can help you...they may be shocked at first...but just put them on the computer to see what a slow taper is...and everyone work together. Have your dad put his pills somewhere safe where you don't know about....YOU CAN DO THIS~~ I know you can and your family loves you and wants to help you!!!!
