This spring I told my allergist that my shots were working great, but my eyes were worse than ever, despite using OTC antihistimine eyedrops. He prescribed Patanol eyedrops. He also told me I could use the antihistimine eyedrops occasionally on really bad days. Also, he said the eyes are the toughest thing to treat for allergies, because once they've become irritated, they have little microscopic scratches in them from the allergens, and us rubbing our eyes etc. which in turn causes the pollen to affect the eyes even more. He said to wear my contacts as little as possible for a month or 2 to help them heal. I can't stand glasses, but I was good about taking the contacts out as soon as I got home instead of bedtime. My eyes are much better now, though I am still using the Patanol.
