I have been on YAZ for 7 months. This is the first pill on which I have experienced no weight gain. I have tried Ortho Cyclen, Ortho Tri Cyclen, Cyclessa, Lo Ovral, NuvaRing and a few others. All of them made me nauseous at some points, some worse than others. I also noticed sore breasts and weight gain with almost every one of them.
The pros of YAZ: No weight gain (but you have to pee often because it is a diuretic and it causes you to shed water weight), my skin has remained the same (I have a decent complexion), lighter and shorter periods.
Cons: I am excessively tired allllll the time. My gyn said that she'd be surprised if YAZ was the cause of this... but I was not like this before YAZ. And it is sooo severe that sometimes I literally feel as though I have taken sleeping pills and I haven't. I just feel very fatigued and weak at times. I am starting to think that this could be due to YAZ's diuretic qualities, and it means that I need to drink extra water to compensate.
I have some symptoms of PCOS that YAZ has had no effect on whatsoever.. so I am not sure that this is the appropriate pill to deal with that. However, I won't switch off of it (even though it is ghastly expensive) because overall, it is a much better pill for me than any other that I have tried.
As for mood swings, I don't really suffer much with them, but every rare occasion will arise where I will get a wave of crying. And actually it can be quite releasing so I don't mind.
