Yes, you can absolutely insert the pill into the vagina and it will work fine. There is a pill I think in Greece that has the same ingredients as "Ovral" and it is used vaginally. It is absorbed through the bloodstream and bypasses the first liver pass as Nuvaring does. You are right, Nuvaring is doing EXACTLY the same thing. It might also depend on the formulation of the brand of pill as well. The progestin in Nuvaring is slightly changed for better absorption through the vagina.

PS You will get some folks on here that will swear it doesn't work and tell you NOT to do it. Just talked to another doc who has had experience with this.

Do you have any other info on this? Does it take long to be absorbed? when it dissolves does it ooze out? does it only have to be taken at night?
