I've been taking BCP for about 10 years. I've been on Ortho-Cyclen for a few years and I recently started getting my period when I still had 8-10 days left until I should be starting. My primary doc switched pills and said it could be that I just need a different strength BCP. So I started taking Ortho-Tricyclen 2 months ago and I'm still starting my period earlier then I should. In between switching from Cyclen to TriCyclen I stopped the pill and decided to wait a month before starting Tricyclen. My period was about 2 weeks late and after it was over I started taking the pill again. Oh, by the way, I'm 29 and I eat healthy and exercise. I just started taking synthroid for hypothyroid the beginning of this year but that's the only med change I've had recently.
I know people can sometimes spot while on the pill but this isn't spotting at all. It's definitely my period. I've never had this problem before while on the pill and I can't find any info out there on this. Everything I've found says to take the pill to help with irregular periods! My doctor is out of town this week but I'm going to call her when she gets back. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what you did for it? I don't want to have to keep changing pills every couple of months! Thanks for your help,
Lizzy
