Yasmin and breakthrough bleeding and spotting HELP! (Birth Control board)

16th October 2003
Ok, I've been on Yasmin for almost a month, before that I was on Mircette for like 2 weeks (I was bleeding like hell on Mircette) so my doctor switched me to Yasmin even though I asked for Ortho-Cyclen (she put me on a plan where I don't get my period, I skip the week pill and you cant do that on Ortho Tri-Cyclen which I was on for a year and a half with no problems except I was a b*tch). So after I went on Yasmin I bled for a week and then started taking 2 and after I stopped bleeding (like 3 days) I went back to 1 and I've just been spotting. Like lightly, I can leave a tampon in for the max of 8 hours and when I take it out it's a little spot. Sometimes it's a little more though but usually at night. I normally take my pill at 9 or 10 in the morning. I don't know what to do. I decided I'd give it on more month to work (I like the way I feel on these, I'm really *****y on Ortho)... Advice maybe? Should I start taking them later in the day? Or maybe I should double for a few more days to help accelerate my body getting used to it more. Help! :(

I didn't have a break because I was on Mircette for about 4 days and my doctor said it wasn't needed. I don't think I'll ever bleed as much as you since in the beginning of it all I was bleeding a lot and after taking 2 pills for about 3-4 days it just went down to spotting and sometimes not doing anything at all. That's why I want to double for 2-4 more days to see if I can get it to stop completely. I don't want to take a break since I find it quite pointless after all the bleeding I've done and I'm also very anemic. The spotting isn't too big of a deal, my boyfriend won't mind that much it's just the cost of tampons and birth control that doesn't work is becomming a little bit pricey for someone who is unemployed. So after this month if it doesn't stop spotting it's probably back to Ortho-Cyclen (even though everyone is against it since I am a monster on it lol). I also don't think I'd need the week since my body has had a month to adjust it's hormones to this new pill. I also read somewhere it could be due to lower estrogen, not possible because Ortho and Yasmin have only a 5 mcg difference. In the end that isn't going to matter. *sigh* I sometimes wish I wasn't a woman.
