I have the worst gyno in the world.... (Birth Control board)

21st December 2004
I posted yesterday about the Nordette and Levora problem.. I decided to call my gyno office and ask her to change my prescription back to Nordette. After playing phone tag a few times (from yesterday until this morning), She has her assistant call to tell me that I want to go on Levora. I said- No I didnt like that pill, I wanted Nordette. So she cops an attitude and says.. "Well, The Dr says they are the same thing, and if you didnt like Levora, You wont like Nordette." ....... So I proceed to explain that I was already on Nordette for 2 years with no problems, Made the switch to Levora and my skin went nuts. .......She says "The Dr says its the same thing. So........... Its....the same thing." And I was floored. Why is she arguing with me on this?? So I basically told her I wanted to go back on it because Estrostep Fe (the one she gave me) wasnt covered by my insurance, and therefore was very expensive, not to mention I wanted to re-try the Nordette and see if it makes a difference. She was like "....Ummmmmm..... I guess Ill talk to the doctor and I guuuuesss... Ill call it in." and then the B Hangs up on me!!!!! What the HECK was THAT all about??? So I dont even know if she approved it, Or what really happened there. If going back on Nordette doesnt screw my skin up worse I will be so happy because if I have to call there again about my prescription Im going to tear my hair out.

I hate things like that!!! Hope they called in Nordette for you :)

I am laughin so hard at your comment "let the butt kicking commence!" lol that was so funny... Cuz its actually exactly how I feel right now!
She hung up on me twice yesterday too...She asked me what my presciption number was, I told her I didnt see a number on my prescription and she copped a huge attitude and goes "NO..THE PHAR-MA-CY NUMBER." then i gave it to her and she hung up on me. Then called back, and asked me what the pill was I wanted, and hung up on me after I told her. I was like .....?????? are u kidding!
Anyway- Im so nervous about taking Nordette again... They told me its going to work exactly like Levora did. SO Im like..Well maybe my body changed and I should have given the Estrostep a try... Oh man I hate dealing with pills and doctors. I guess im going to try the nordette again...wait it out and see how my skin reacts.. And then if it doesnt improve..Ill give her suggestion a try.
{removed} OH well I guess I will have to do trial and error on myself.

Looks like a lot of good things are being said about Mircette..
That could be an option too. I'm just chicken about changing to a lower dose because I'm so afraid of getting pregnant...and of having funky side effects!

I'm sorry you've had to go through such an uncomfortable experience with that dumb bag, and I really hope Nordette helps! it would be nice to not have to switch to a whole new formula! keeping my fingers crossed for you!

You will not believe this! They just called me again and told me that they will give me 5 more samples of Estrostep because Nordette is the same thing as Levora and shes refusing to give me a prescription for it. She said that if by the time I finish these 8 packs (she gave me 3 trials the other day when I was there), and If I see no improvement or things are worse.. I can get the Nordette to try again. Wow- This is the weirdest experience with a Doctor that Ive ever had. Crazy!!!!
Anyways- I guess I will keep you posted on how Estrostep Fe is. If it agrees with me, maybe you can ask your gyno for it because we both liked Nordette, and seemed to have the same problems with Levora..So maybe our chemistry would react similar to Estrostep. My sister takes Mircette, by the way, and she loves it. She definately saw an improvement in acne (she always had it on her cheeks, whereas for me...I got it mildly on the chin and after nordette I had NOTHING) She gets occasional breakouts on it, but nothing too major. Also, She said she has never gotten headaches, nausea, upset stomach or anything else associated with Bcps... So maybe thatd be a good one to try.

wow, she must really want her comission money from the Estrostep Fe..

If you're giving it a try, good luck!! I hope it works out well. Maybe it will!
But if it doesn't and you have to go back to the Dr. for Nordette I'd make sure to pack a good knuckle-sandwich for her :p to eat her words and her lack of concern for your feelings (and god knows probably the illegality of what she's doing)
Anyway, keep me posted - I'll switch back to Nordette and see what happens {removed}
Happy Pilling!

Oh great.. You have to let me know if the switch to Nordette gets your skin in check.
I know right.. Whats with the pushing of the Estrostep?? She gave me 8 months worth of samples though...So Its not like shes really making a commission for awhile.. Unless it still counts, I dont know. What a real wacko. I miss my old gyno
Anyways.. I guess Im stuck with this pill.. I was wondering why she didnt give me Orthotricyclen because I heard thats the absolute best one for skin issues. Who the heck knows what goes on in this Doctoral Underworld.
