if your skin is flaking and it's red and sore you may have sebborheic dermatitis (spelling). It can be treated with an anti-fungal shampoo such as nizoral which is available from the pharmacist's. dermtatitis is a form of yeast infection and is linked to a flaking scalp which I had ages ago.

The infection must've spread from my scalp to my face.

there's no known cause for this.
