Flaking Ears, Scalp and Face (General Health board)

Sounds like Seborrrheic Dermatitis. You might try Nizoral shampoo. You use it every 3 days(use on scalp and the other areas but don't get into your eyes!) and in between use a tea tree oil shampoo(buy from haircutting place like Super Cuts, etc. or order online it's made by Paul Mitchell). You can also use it to wash the other areas that are flaking off like your face and ears, it's very gentle. My husband has this condition and it sounds the same. This is what his dermatologist suggested and it is working for him. You don'thave to use Paul Mitchell it's just the one his doc suggested. Oh, with either product let it sit on there(scalp, ears, face, etc.) for at least 5 minutes before rinsing, 10 is better. I know it's a long time to just stand there in the shower, my hubby complains about that part but it's working so he s starting to complain less! And don't use any regular soaps or shampoos on the affected areas.
Option 2.....go to a dermatologist :) Just telling you what they told my hubby but maybe this isn't what you have - it does sound similar though.

Good luck,
Tori

For my husband it went away completely but you need to use the Nizoral every 3 days and the tea tree oil shampoo in between. If you stop it comes back. If it is dermatitis there is no 'cure' you can only treat the symptoms.

Good luck!
