I have personally used generic Colace which is Docusate Sodium. Some people like some don't. In the beginnning I was taking 3 at bedtime. I recently changed to 1 in the morning and 2 at bedtime. I know Mirilax is gentle and I would ask my surgeon what he recommends.
Also ladies make sure you ask for lidocaine jelly. It comes in a tube and has an applicator so you can squeeze a little on the inside of you anus. I went the first week without it. He prescribed it to me on my 1 weeks post op. It is great before and after a bowel movement. I also had Nifedipine .2% which seemed to help some with bowel spasms and swelling. Too much swelling causes fissures and from what I here we do not want those. They are worse than the hemorrhoids. It seems most of us only get this stuff prescribed once we are complaining.

Good luck tomorrow. Please post how you are doing when you feel up to it.
To both of you it gets better each week. Hang in there. We tend to forget pain.
Again beware of the narcotics.
