Today is good... (Addiction & Recovery board)

23rd February 2008
Hello everyone!
I've posted once on here before about a seizure I recently had which can only be explained by the fact that I had been taking approximately 10 Ultram a day for a few weeks. I didn't realize addiction could happen so quickly, but it did. I was in the hospital for a few days, which forced me to detox off of them. I am still clean and it's been a couple of weeks, so for now, I'm safe.
I was addicted to Oxy's for about a year and lost my supplier, forcing me to go CT from them. This was about 4 months ago. I then heard Neurontin would help with withdrawals, so I became addicted to them. The withdrawal from them was horrible as well. But, I haven't taken those in almost a month.
Now, the only thing I'm on is Ambien. This was prescribed to me by my PCP around the time of my father's death, which was a couple of months ago. I wasn't sleeping, and it seems to help most of the time. I currently take it a few nights a week, and am able to sleep when I don't take it. I didn't realize that it was yet another addictive drug, so I'm thinking of nipping this one in the bud and completely stopping them.
Oh yes-and, I quit smoking a couple of months ago, which has been going well, with the occasional slip up.
I'm just wondering if I will have withdrawals from the Ambien and how people remain clean. It is tempting to use, but I feel so much better when I'm not using. Obviously, I have a very addictive personality. Any pointers on how to abstain from use would be so appreciated. Thanks and have a good one!
