New To Board (Addiction & Recovery board)

1st January 2007
Wow thanks for all the feedback:) I definitely appreciate it. I have talked to my doctors. My primary care doctor is urging me to get off of it. He says these narcotics don't really help in the long run. They mask the problem and tis better to try and relieve your pain using methods such as exercising, stretching, distraction, meditation, massage, etc. I say he has never experienced pain like I have:mad: The doctors who did my surgery say I could have significant pain for up to a year and don't have a problem with the amount I am currently taking although they have now prescribed Neurontin because my pain was not being totally controlled with the vicodin. I guess I could take more of the vicodin but I just don't want to go there...especially after reading this board. Another question...does anyone find that weather, specifically the barometric pressure, makes their pain worse? How about mattresses? I know that this question probably only pertains to people that have had back problems. Thanks in advance.

Tiger, the barometric pressure will make the pain worse..i live in ny too, and the weather is pretty crappy now...it will make bones ache..especially post surgery bones..i had foot surgery feb 2006 and in some pain today..almost a year later. There are alot of non-narcotic pain meds out there..neurontin will help with nerve damage, not so much pain.
