I am so sorry you are going through this -- that is the *worst* kind of pain!
There is a new drug for nerve pain called Lyrica. I take it now, and I have to say that when I started, my pain was cut in half. I told my orthopaedist that it gave me my life back.
It was developed as a replacement for neurontin -- which has a lot of nasty side effects. It was also used primarily for nerve pain as a result of shingles, but now doctors, such as mine, are prescribing it for patients with other types of nerve pain.
One of my friends is a dentist, and when I told him about what I was taking for my arm, he said he was going to investigate it for his patients, as well.
When you think about it, the pain we have all felt associated with our teeth is primarily nerve pain.
Lyrica is NOT a narcotic. You might feel a little dizzy (not high and not pleasant) when you start it, but that goes away as soon as your body adjusts.
Anyway, thought I'd throw my suggestion in the mix!
Hope you feel better soon. And check in to tell how you are doing and what finally gave you some relief!
