   sinus / sudafed (Allergies board)

29th June 2006
I have/had the same problem.

I was taking Sudafed all the time and it actually caused a lot of problems for me. It elevated my blood pressure, sometimes caused my heart to race, and also causes rebound congestion if you are taking it all the time.

I actually ended up getting off of my allergy medication (Nasacort) and all decongestants and after a few weeks of suffering my headaches are less frequent and much less severe.

I'd suggest quitting the stuff cold turkey and seeing if it will help you out like it did me.

I took Sudafed for years and it also raised my BP. I now use Nasacort, but not everyday. The nights I use it before bed I sleep 100% better but I am afraid to use it every night. Are there long term issues with Nasacort?
