I was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago with rheumatoid arthritis and started on Plaquenil and Mobic. I also have a butterfly rash on my face, red bumps and a couple of bald spots on my scalp, along with general thinning of my hair. I also have a funky rash on my leg that gets worse with sun exposure. I run a low grade fever most days. My internist says that I have lupus, but the rheumatologist says that I don't because the ANA was negative, as were all the subsets for which he tested. Does anyone know if RA can cause the skin symptoms I am having?
