BCP for peri menopausal symptoms??? (Menopause board)

23rd February 2006
I'm debating about the pill too. I took it in past but stopped 10 years ago. I'm 47 now. In early 40s I started having heavier periods and bad cramps. I have mild hypertension that is not always controlled that well even with blood pressure meds (I've tried them all too). GYN gave me samples of Micronor (progesterone only) and Ortho trycyclen lo last year and said I could try as long as I monited bp closely, but I've been leary of trying them. But in last 2 months I've essentially had 4 periods. Now, about a year or so ago my cramps did get a little better. At any rate, I don't know what to do.

I am going to try oona products. They have a menopause formula and 2 different PMS formulas. Look up on web. My acupuncturist, who is also working with me on getting through peri, said she knew someone who had good luck with them. And I read some web reviews that said they are good. They are supposed to regulate hormones with herbs. Anyone heard of them?

I have not heard of that product, but sounds interesting. Have you heard of Menosense by Lorna Vanderhaege?? I take her Estrosense and it make a huge difference for me and my fibrocystic breast disease. It has green tea, turmeric, IC3 (indole 3 carbinol which helps fight cancer) and some other things that I can't remember at this time. It also regulates hormones and helps to get rid of extra estrogen which was my problem for a few years. I think there are a few good natural products out there.
I took my first BCP last night and I swear I can feel my boobs swelling and starting to hurt. I know it's just paranoia, but I am still not convinced BCP's are for me....
