Hi Yvonne, I'm on metoprolol 25mg twice per day. That's a really low dose---my cardiologist suggested I go up to 50mg twice per day but it causes my heart rate to fall very low---like in the high 30s! At the dose I'm on now, I get a slower heart rate, sometimes about 48-50 if I'm sitting very quietly, and that in turn causes me to be a little drowsy. I also get the cold hands and feet. I used to take atenolol and it caused me to feel very dizzy, it dropped my heart rate AND blood pressure too low. I like the beta-blockers in general, it's nice not to deal with that crazy fast heart rate every day and they are actually supposed to be good for your heart.
