MaxAir no longer available? help (Asthma board)

2nd January 2006
Have you tried the Pulmicort (sp?) Turbo haler? I was using the Maxair for a long time, and was changed to the Pulmicort. If your asthma is really severe, have you checked into Xolair? It's a shot instead of a pill, but it's only given once a month.

Pulmicort is a steroid, Maxair is a bronchodilator. So pulmicort wouldn't replace MaxAir

To the original poster:
Xopenex! Awesome med if you have issues with albuterol. Up until December 2005 it was only available for the nebulizer but as of December there is now a Xopenex MDI...its called Xopenex HFA. I've used Xopenex for 5 years, prior to that I had used nebulized albuterol, Proventil inhaler and MaxAir.

Interestingly enough Seprecor, the makers of Xopenex, teamed up with 3M who are the makers of Maxair for the Xopenex inhaler
