Only certain antibiotics effect the pill. Some, like Cipro and macrobid have been proven through various studies to not effect the pill at all.

really? where are you getting this information? its not that i dont believe you, im just curious.(but dont post a webpage, its not allowed) but I will still follow my Dr's cautioning and use a back up the next 2 weeks. 26th April 2005 I've read studies that tested the effect of Cipro and Macrobid on combined oral contraceptives.
I've also read many things stating that most antibiotics/birth control pill interaction is theory. But if your doctor told you to use back-up then I'd do so. Perhaps the antibiotic you're on is one of the few that do effect the pill. {remved} 27th April 2005
