I just started taking one 600 mg. capsule of Nature's Plus standardized Red Yeast rice and after only 9 days my knees are feeling a little achy. Not sure if this is just old age (52 with bad knees to begin with) or actually a side effect of the RYR. This is frustrating me since I am statin adverse and really hoped to get my borderline numbers down using RYR. Since RYR contains a small amount of lovastatin that is naturally occuring, does this mean I won't be able to tolerate a statin if necessary?
