Looking for answer to multiple symtoms... Please help! (Open to All Health Related Topics board)

27th May 2007
Hi,

Has anyone ever heard of the following multiple symptoms and what it is they describe?

Ongoing for over 3 months now.

Ear pains: some sharp shooting pain lasting seconds to 1 minute (Acute pains).
Some dull burning/aching pains lasting minutes to hours (chronic pains).

Molar/jaw pains: Some abscess feeling type pain lasting seconds to minutes (Acute pains).
Some dull sore/aching pains lasting minutes to hours (Chronic pains).

Eye pains: mostly moderate, sinus type headache pains lasting only seconds to 1 minute and one eye at a time (Accute pains).

I have seen 2 primary care doctors, 2 ENT's, 1 Neurotologist (University hospital), 1 Neurosurgeon (University hospital) and my dentist.

I have had all major blood work done, 3 TMJ exams, 2 CT scans (with IV), 1 MRI (with IV) and a full panoramic x-ray as well as individual bitewing x-rays. I also had needed sinus surgery a month after symptoms began and a cyst and polyps were removed from my sinuses and my turbinates were opened up. The scans ruled out the sinus surgery as the cause for the continued symptoms.

No physical signs for random pains have been found. If I were to describe how my symptoms present themselves I would say this:

Imagine if I were to come over and stomp real hard on your foot and stand there for a few seconds (This would be the sharp shooting acute pain on any of the organs). Then in seconds sometimes minutes or hours later come back while your foot is still sore and stomp real hard on your foot again and stand there a few seconds before I step off. Its after these shooting pains, then I get this dull, sore and aching pain (This would be the chronic pain on any of the organs).

These random pains can occur any time and last for seconds to minutes even hours. Also, these pains occur on either the right or left side of my face. And lastly the pains will randomly occur to any of the organs I've described above. I've tried to induce the pains by either touch, hot/cold fluids or food, but cant cause the pains to happen.

I take 2 to 4 Lortab 7.5's a day and it sometimes helps, and sometimes it doesnt. One day I took 5 within a 4 hour period before I felt any relief. I prefer not take the pain killers at all, and sometimes I dont when I'd rather feel the pain than feel medicated.

The neurosurgeon prescribed Tegretol but the side effects were too much. Currently I'm on Neurontin 300mg 3 times a day. I will be seeing a new Neurologist next week at the University Hospital.

I would greatly appreciate any information regarding these multiple symptoms and how they relate to headaches, ear, neuropathology, pain management or any other condition. I cant find anything documenting these multiple symptoms anywhere.

  :(

Thank You! :)
