Lorazepam addict (Addiction & Recovery board)

28th December 2005
Heya.
Lorazepam - is that ativan?
If it is, or if it's in that family (like I know xanax is like diazapam (sp) or something.) That's not my DOC, but it was many years ago. And the thing I can tell you is look at how much you're taking and figure a good taper plan. Make it one you can live with and if you can, get someone to dole out your pills, keeping maybe half or one pill in case you panic. I just don't think that's something you should just go right off, do you know what I mean? I think that could be dangerous and I know it's gotta be uncomfortable. Do you have enough pills to set up a long and slow taper - enough refills? If you're doing it without a doctor, I'd do it that way. It would take a lot of strength, but I know you feel bad right now and that, too, is dangerous.
Take care and the advice of those here who can better tell you how to taper. The best luck to you.
