I had a racing heart when I was young, about 25 years ago. I was put on 50 mg of Lopressor twice a day, and have been fine all these years. I have always been a very anxious and depressed person and started Lexapro about 3 years ago, and have had a new lease on life. All the anxious thoughts are now gone. I also had a lap band installed about 2 years ago and lost 100 lbs. Last year I noticed that I became very fatigued, and last March experienced my first fainting episode. I was checked out at the ER and sent home. The fatigue continued, but I just chalked it up to stress and continued. On Dec 30th I again fainted at the grocery store and was admitted to the hospital. Because my blood pressure was extremely low. Sometimes 80 over 50, he cut my lopressor in half. I was still dizzy and went to a cardiologist at my Dr.'s recommendation. After getting a stress test and a tilt table, which I did not pass out on until they gave me the IV that has the medication it in, my cardiologist said my heart was fine and I was passing out because the Lopressor was lowering my blood pressure too much. He took me off of the medication about a week and a half ago, and since then, I have been about to fall apart. My stomach is clenching so hard that I am dry heaving and it hurts to drink only water. My heart is racing and I have episodes of shaking. My question is: Is this merely a reaction to quitting the medication and will it go away eventually? If not what other options to I have to stop this feeling?
Any help you can offer would be SO greatly appreciated.
