   anyone taking loudine? (Arthritis board)

8th January 2005
Lodine is an anti-imflamatory that has been around for a while now. It can be fairly effective for mild to moderate inflamation.
One thing you should do, if not already told, is to be sure you take it with food or crackers as it can be very harsh on the stomache. If you start to experience stomache pain or acid reflux let your doctor know so that he may put you either on a different medication or give you a GERD medication to prevent the acid reflux that comes as a result.
It may take a few weeks to get the full effects of it. If you are not noticing a difference by the end of week 3 let the doctor know if you aren't expected to see them again for a while. You may need something different or something in conjunction with it to find relief.

For the knee you may want to try 1200mg Vitamin C each day, this has proven to be very effective in helping to prolong the life of knee when it is arthritic. It has worked fairly well for me.

Have you considered trying to do some aquatic exercising to loose weight or at least strengthen up your muscle tone at all? It is non weight bearing and is the best thing for anyone with arthritis regardless of weight.

Also be sure you are wearing flat comfortable shoes with good arches, no heels, this will only cause your back and knee to get worse when walking around.

Good luck

I have been on Lodine for almost two years in addition with a few other drugs. I always take it after eating. Any side effects have vanished along time ago. It helps alot and is meant for the long run. Cindy
