Loestrin24 FE Advise!!! (Birth Control board)

21st September 2007
ok maybe i shouldn't be posting this here yet... but i've really come to see and understand that everyone reacts completely differently to birth control pills so i thought i'd shard my experiences.... i'm trying loestrin next so i guess i'll be able to report back on that soon... i started with orthocyclen (regular one, not the tri) and i hated it... i was dizzy all the time, headaches, and was having issues with "inflamation"... my wrists, my ankles, hemorroids, even the acne i was trying to get rid of! instead of just gettign a pimple, the whole area of my face swelled up. i stopped it and everything went back to normal. on a positive note i think i was in a better mood and my breasts felt like they may have possibly been increasing in size (i'm a small a, this was part the reason for me starting bcp, the other was acne!!! i've tried everything and cannot get rid of acne so i figured bcp was my last hope) but that was it... so next i tried lo-ovral... eh. i had a lot of headaches... and i got really lazy... i quit the gym right after starting this pill and i was always just down.... i stayed on it a good few months and finally switched.... next is alesse. alesse wasn't bad... my mood is fine... it's pretty stable and my libido (which tanked on lo-ovral) is up again... no headaches either.... only thing is i gained a ton of weight... i am ALWAYS hungry... always... and i eat relatively healthy... but this pill is OK for me. the weight gain can happen on any pill, could just be cuz i stayed on this one the longest. however, i'm switching because my acne is still not clearing up (ok and my boobs despite my weight gain haven't budged a drop, but i've mostly lost hope on them, i'd at least like the skin to clear up). my doctor says i should try loestrin before yasmin (i wanted yasmin but she said it has more risks and should be a last resort). my fear though is that i won't get my period. it was relatively light to begin with, on the bcp it's MAYBE 3 days, sometimes just 2 as it is... if that's the case, i'll be too paranoid to continue with loestrin even if my skin gets clear!

but my point is just that you really won't know til you try.... i feel like everyone i know goes on ortho, gets nice boobs, clear skin, is hapy and loves it. i was miserable. so you really can't go by what anyone else experiences. nd doctors don't seem to like to admit that somethings can be side effects of the pills, they can! if things start to feel weird, stop taking it and use another method of bc until you can find something that feels better.

hope that helps someone.
