What did you do when you found out.... (Cancer: Prostate board)

After the initial shock, I go use to the situation and it didn't bother me too much until it came close to the surgery date. My wife took it much harder than I did. Almost to the point that she was considering seeing a psyciatrist. Her problem is she is a nurse in surgery dept. at the local hospitol and often sees he worst cases. After the surgery, she realized thing aren't that bad and things have gone much better. The problem now is I am 14 weeks post surgery and still not able to get an erection. She tries to make me achieve an orgasm, but quickly gets tied and perhaps bored and quits. She gave me permision to "pleasure myself" so now I feel frustrated. 100 ml. of Viargra made me extremely flush and seeing spots. I then tried levitra. This seems to be exactly the same as Viagra. I plan on waqiting about another month, then the urologist will try injections. Boy I tell ya, the things a guy will do to get a little. Buy the way, a PSA test last week came back undetectable. Burmashave

At age 49 PC was NOT what I wanted to hear. My dad had it bad - I figured my day would come but not at age 49. Denial came first - then depression - then a sense of getting everything done I could because I may not be around. Eight months later I am cancer free but impotent. Viagra and Levitra are only good for headaches. I have soft erections when standing.
Good luck - keep the faith.

:) Ron Z & Burmashave,
I had an RP at age 46 (going on 2 years) with nerve sparing on both sides. I now have erections & orgasms without Viagra, Levitra or Cialis. I credit a very skilled surgeon & a great deal of luck on my part. My PSA has been undectectable & I've actually started using Androgel with my dr's OK. It seems the more I use my "equipment" the better things get (to a point). It will NEVER be quite the same, but the alternative of doing nothing would have been far worse. I have heard of good luck with injections. Some guys have actually jump-started with injections & didn't need them after awhile. Keep trying. In terms of time, you both are not that far out from surgery. We all know what we like & there's no reason we can't strive for it.--Positive4U
