[QUOTE=debdaniel;3540793]Due to my blood sugar running in the 200's fasting while taking Glucatrol, Byetta and Junivia, the doctor is starting me on 10 mg of Lantis at night. I have been losing weight since starting the Byetta. I feal using insulin will cause weight gain. Is this true - insulin will cause weight gain?
Hi, I'm new on this site, so I guess I'll start by helping you out. I know that Glucatrol is a pill, right? And Byetta is pretty new, so I don't know much about that one, but I do use Lantus at night. Lantus is suppose to be a long acting insulin, it should last for 24 hours, even though with some of us it doesn't. I know some people who have to use it at night and in the morning. I use Lantus at night. But with you, I have never heard of someone taking so low of a dosage of Lantus, you usually take a dosage that is more higher, I use 60 units at night, and yes it does help your fastings out as well as you levels during the day, but you will still have to use something else during the day. And when it comes to weight gain, that is pretty much true, but that's only if you are taking a much larger amount of insulin and have been using it for a long amount of time, with the dosage of Lantus that you are taking, I doubt very seriously if you would put on any pounds at all, but you may have to increase your dosage of Lantus, that's a small amount, it may not do much right now. But let me know what happens. (dede);)
